Unlike traditional garment design, our approach starts with the materials. Fibers are carefully selected through a strict framework that analyzes their impact to the earth and human health at each phase of life: birth, production, during life, end of life.
Our framework looks at a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, ability and time to biodegrade, conditions required to biodegrade, recyclability, upcycleability, where they are derived from, process of turning raw materials into fibers, toxicity, maintenance requirements, and durability.
Once fibers are selected, they are analyzed for their properties (stretch, strength, durability etc.) and how they can be stitched together. We have identified the perfect weave and garment styles to complement the fiber properties of our selected fabrics. Though similar styles are offered in the market today, they are developed using plastic based fibers. We have proven that these fibers can be replaced with natural, environmentally friendly alternatives, resulting in higher breathability, fewer toxins and an all around better quality.
We are constantly innovating and researching new materials, but today, our garments are made out of the following carefully selected fabrics.
When cotton goods are produced, there is always waste material (think scraps, stains, mistakes, etc.) that ends up directly in landfills. This material is essentially new, but not in a form that is usable.
We are taking these materials directly from the cutting room floor, and upcycling them to give them a new life. This waste is separated based on the color, and then blended into yarns. Our recycled cotton is then run though a non-toxic chemical treatment to remove the color and impart strength into the yarns.
Cotton is not only soft and breathable, but also durable, absorbent and easy to care for. Recycled cotton carries these same properties without any impact on our earth or health.
Our recycled cotton is sourced and recycled in India.
Organic cotton has similar properties to recycled cotton but is grown using methods that have little to no impact on the environment.
Our system of organic farming is built to support soil fertility, eliminate the use of toxic pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Further, federal regulations prevent the use of any genetically modified seed in organic farming.
Our Organic Cotton is GOTS Certified and is grown in India.
The main raw material used in the production of lyocell is the cellulose from wood pulp. This pulp is obtained from managed tree farms that grow Eucalyptus, Oak, and Birch trees which are grown for the purpose of developing Lyocell. The farming of these trees does not require irrigation or pesticides and the production process produces no harmful byproducts.
Lyocell is 100% biodegradable, usually in as little as 8-weeks given the right decomposing conditions. Lyocell fabric is highly durable, anti-bacterial and gentle on skin. Further, the fibers are highly absorbent and breathable.
Our Lyocell is OKEO-Tex Certified from Turkey.
